Searching for Permeance

On February 1, our nation will receive a landmark financial report and budget. India continues to demonstrate microeconomic stability despite global uncertainty. As always, the market is filled with speculation ahead of the budget. I believe this year’s budget will set more ambitious goals, building on previous progress.

Many sectors are interconnected, as shown by the recent comprehensive agreement our nation made with the EU. However, our economy’s core strength remains its microeconomic foundation. Based on the upcoming financial report, I anticipate significant government focus in three areas: advancing the energy transition, expanding defense engineering and technology, and boosting semiconductor manufacturing.

Where should we focus our capital market investments over the next five to fifteen years? For retail investors seeking long-term, stable returns, identifying micro-level industrial activities is essential. Sustainable industrial progress depends on capabilities such as steel fabrication, power plant construction, efficient energy transport, and value creation from these activities. Fabrication technology is the most fundamental operation across these sectors, supporting industries such as nuclear engineering, reactor vessel construction, shipbuilding, power generation and distribution, petrochemical and pipeline and storage solutions, and transportation platforms.

Every human activity, from building a wooden house to constructing space stations, requires fabricating materials into specific shapes and sizes, assembling them, and achieving the final result. All unit operations involved in this process can be classified as fabrication. Identifying solution providers with distinct advantages who have moats in their respective spheres of activity and technological leadership to meet our nation’s fabrication needs will remain a critical, ongoing priority. We can seek permanence in those areas when we search the wide landscape for our investments.

We wish India and all who invest in its future continued success.

FINE
